This month we had two students receive awards for various reasons. Mwanahawa was rewarded for telling me about another student whom she had seen steal a t-shirt from the window at the visitors' room after they left. A few other things went missing but she reported the other student despite being afraid that she would later be beaten.
Edward Muhia was awarded for an act of bravery where he risked his friendship with two boys whom he had overheard saying they would smoke "bhang" (marijuana) at the boys' compound. He told Jackton about it and they set a trap and he was to pretend that he wanted to smoke with them but when his turn came he should just take it and run to Jackton with it and this is just what happened. The two boys missed their Sunday school trip and also got other punishments.
These two become our heroes for the Month of August.
