Ben this month has had a good harvest. He and his team have worked extra hard to have more produce and put both the team and students to hard work on the farm at MITS. Well, the hard work has reaped off and we no have plenty of carrots, sweet potatoes, cabbages and beans.
Ben is also having a project that he has just initiated of building a fish pond. He has already dug it out and all that remains is to bring in the fish. The orchard is doing great, the fruits tress are growing and a lot is being done by the students and staff to make sure that they are weed-free.
Bug spray is also being used to keep the trees healthy.
Ben and his team have scheduled classes with the literacy students to try and teach, instruct the students on good farming techniques;use of right tools for different job in the farm.
In other reports, a Day Spa was held on Monday, for the street mother at Eastleigh. Guess whose idea this was...Susan, our student who has attended hairdressing school and is now a professional hairdresser. She decided to express her talents and expertise to do manicure and pedicure. Some women from the streets also had their hair done. She asked the skills teachers who train the students on hairdressing, Terry and Phylis for assistance. Also the student in that skill were involved in the Monday exercise. (pics later)
