Updates

2015 started with a trip for all the literacy students with some of their teachers. We ventured into the Great Rift Valley towns, and got to see some of our great lakes. It was a fun camp and partly educational for our kids.

Some of them have never been in those parts of Kenya. While in Kisumu the kids got a boat ride, some for the first time. Also while at Lake Bogoria, we visited the hot springs where we boiled eggs and ate beside the lake.

A big number of kids have elevated in to the skills level. A lot of excitement for the kids who turned 16 years old as they got to choose their skills area, that they will be in for the next two years.

Class of 2014 graduates are securing jobs and moving out of MITS to their own apartments. The past week some of them have already moved out in to their apartments. Edwin Ndungu, Peter Thuo, Duba Hussein, Fidelis Wambua, Naomi Minayo, Ann Wairimu, Martin Kienjeku, Ian Thiga are out trying to secure jobs in different parts of the city. Fauzia Hama, Eunice Muthoni, Jane Njeri, Anthony Mwema,  Bill Otieno, Francis Ndungu, Mary Wambui have managed to secure jobs in their different skill fields. Patricia Zuhura and Jackline Imam have been trained in jewelry so we will be working with them to make products we can use to sell in US.

Ian Nandwa has started his schooling in electronics and is doing great. Micheal Okanga and Paul Njoroge are yet to exit but plans are there to have the go to a drving school once they get their national IDs. For now, they help aid Charles in the auto mechanics class.

Three of our graduates have managed to secure jobs in the prestigious Java Restaurants within Nairobi.  Bill Otieno and Mary Wanjiku (graduate of 2012) work at Java house close to the US embassy in Gigiri, Francis Ndungu works at the Java house in a mall known as Thika Road Mall.

Please pray for two of our team mates...Susan recently had attacks from diabetes. She is currently fine and on medication, Magdalene was involved in a public bus accident while coming to work this last week. She has a dislocated shoulder and recuperating.

Currently the Eastleigh team is working on intake mostly for girls from the streets, we pray this process of transition will be smooth and without glitches.
