Student updates

As you all already know, Prisca Kerubo ran away from the program in August...we traced her and good enough her father was also interested in the search. The team talked in depth of whether to allow Priscah back into our program, since she had been on the streets and was actively involved in the use of drugs. All team members were moved and decided to bring her back, so we did.
She is back in classes and is under close supervision by the team especially with Irene Akinyi who is the Girls' supervisor and her counselor for now.
On a sad note, Duncan Mwangi ran away yesterday, the 10th. He has been contemplating of running away since he had made contact with his father. We believe that his father has been influencing him to come out of the program and be with him. Attempts were made by Nzioka, dorm supervisor, to try and reason out with him. Nzioka thought that he had reached Duncan, only to realized he left 1 hour after they had talked.
On a lighter note, on the weekend the MITS family came together again for a talent show organized by Larry Haggerman, it was a joyous moment when all team and students expressed their talents in singing, dancing, poem recitals and small skits.
Anastacia, Eunice and Mercy Kisya have moved out. Since they were already living together in Eastleigh they still decided to rent a place together. Anastacia recently graduated and was offered a job at a known production house known as Good News Production Intl. Eunice and Mercy have found jobs in the same salon on the far eastern part of Nairobi.
Micheal McKenzie has also moved out, he is working part-time for the farm and the wood shop under the supervision of Victor Otieno.
Joel is still working with 8 of our older exiting student on getting their National Identification. Already they have managed to obtain what we call a waiting card. Its a receipt showing that the Nation IDs are in process of being produced within a period of a month.
We expect a new student addition today called Jane Njeri, she is 13yrs old and was living on the streets. All the intake procedure has been done on her.
George Mwenda is still on recovery level, he experiences minor aches in his eye, but the doctor say its normal after the eye surgery. he will be going for frequent visit to the eye doctor to check on the status of the eye.
Birthdays are coming soon and so are the holiday season, we have massive plans to make our students feel loved and the joy of being a part of a family. There is always that pressure here, in Kenya to go places and do stuff with family...so a committee was put in place to come up with a proposal of trips and events in the festive season.
